CONROE FOUNDERS DAY HONORS CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
🥇 Conroe came together this week to celebrate some of the people who help make the community what it is. At the 2026 Founders Day event, longtime resident and business owner Todd Bartholet was named Citizen of the Year.
Bartholet helped organize truckloads of supplies for Hurricane Helene victims and led the push to move a planned gas compressor station away from nearby homes and businesses. The event also honored retiring Judge Kathleen A. Hamilton with a Lifetime Achievement Award after more than two decades serving Montgomery County and supporting local programs.
CONROE’S LONE STAR THROWDOWN BRINGS IN THOUSANDS OF VISITORS
🚗 Thousands of truck fans rolled into Conroe this weekend for the Lone Star Throwdown, one of the biggest custom truck shows in the country. The fairgrounds filled with lifted pickups, lowriders, and restored classics as people walked the rows, took photos, and talked shop.
For many, the trucks mean more than just horsepower. Some visitors drove across the country to be there, bringing their builds that took years of work and plenty of heart. It is the kind of event truck lovers mark on the calendar every year.
THE WOODLANDS CONSIDERS TUNNEL PROJECT TO REDUCE TRAFFIC
🚙 Leaders in The Woodlands are taking a serious look at a tunnel that could help with traffic around Town Center. The township approved a proposal to join Elon Musk’s Boring Company Tunnel Vision Challenge. If the project is selected, one mile of tunnel would be built at no cost.
The idea is to connect places like Waterway Square, the Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and Town Green Park. Officials say it could help move people during big events and busy times around the waterway. A decision is expected in March.

About the Event
Tastefest is one of the Conroe Lake Conroe Chamber’s long running traditions, bringing together local food and drink from across the area. The event will be held March 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center in Conroe. For 30 years, it has been a chance for the community to gather and enjoy what local restaurants have to offer.
Why People Love It
With one ticket, guests can try unlimited bites from more than 40 vendors. The night also includes live moments like a brisket trimming demonstration from McKenzie’s Barbeque and Burgers and a drink mixology session. Many restaurants also share coupons, specials, and giveaways with people attending.
How to Attend
Tickets cost $40 for the public and $25 for Chamber members. Kids under 13 can attend for free, and group pricing is available for larger groups.

NEW CANEY TO GET 20-ACRE VILLAGE GREEN WITH SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS
🌳 A new gathering spot is taking shape in Valley Ranch. Developers have revealed plans for a 20-acre Village Green that will bring restaurants, shops, fitness spaces, and offices to the Marketplace district in New Caney.
The design centers around a large green space where people can walk, sit, and spend time together. About 190,000 square feet of retail is planned, and construction on the first Marketplace building is expected to begin this summer. Leaders say the goal is to create a place where the community can gather and enjoy the area.
CONROE CHAMBER CELEBRATES LEADERS AT CHAIRMAN’S BALL
⭐ The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce gathered at Margaritaville Lake Resort for its annual Chairman’s Ball, and the night had a fun Masters theme. Guests showed up ready to celebrate with food, drinks, games, and plenty of conversation.
The event also recognized several members of the community. Awards went to Jessica Hogland, Jared Burns, Jennifer Huffine, and Melanie K Bush. The Chamber thanked outgoing Chair Clint Nichols and welcomed incoming Chair Guy Barker as the group heads into 2026.

#24 AGGIES BASEBALL DEFEATS PENN
⚾ Texas A&M stayed hot Sunday, beating Penn 7-1 to finish off the weekend sweep at Blue Bell Park. Pitcher Aiden Sims set the tone, going seven innings and striking out ten while holding Penn to just one run.
The Aggies also got a big day from Nico Partida, who had three hits and a home run. With the win, Texas A&M improves to 7 wins with zero losses to start the season and keeps the momentum rolling.
AGGIES WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CRUSHES ARKANSAS
🏀 Texas A&M gave the home crowd something to cheer about Sunday, beating Arkansas 78-57 on senior day at Reed Arena. The Aggies jumped out early and stayed in control the rest of the afternoon.
Ny'Ceara Pryor finished with 16 points and 12 assists, and Fatmata Janneh added 11 points and 13 rebounds. Five Aggies scored in double figures as the team picked up its third straight conference win.
