🐦 Houston Audubon just protected a large stretch of land in eastern Montgomery County. The group acquired the 128-acre Peach Creek Woods Nature Sanctuary, about 10 miles southwest of Cleveland along Peach Creek.

Over the next year the land will be prepared for public access, with the sanctuary expected to open in early 2027. The property was donated by Texas conservationist and educator Thomas Lee Maddux, helping create a future spot for wildlife, birdwatching, and quiet time outdoors.

🎓 A well-known Texas A&M donor is raising concerns about the direction of the university. Jon Hagler says political pressure is shaping decisions by the board of regents. His comments came after the board banned teaching “race and gender ideology,” a move that drew national attention.

Some Aggie supporters agree and say leaders should be careful not to overreact. Board chairman Robert Albritton says the university is simply following state law and doing what is best for Texas A&M, which continues to grow and attract students.

🎡 Every year the Houston Rodeo brings huge crowds, big concerts, and a lot to see. But if you have ever gone, you know not everything is worth the time or the money. Houstonia recently shared a simple rundown of what visitors usually love and what they say you can skip.

Trying new foods, riding the carnival rides, visiting the exhibitions, and checking out the Champion Wine Garden are all worth it. On the flip side, turkey legs, pedicab prices, and parking at NRG can be more trouble than they are worth. Plan it right and the rodeo can be a great day in Houston.

🎤 Houston comedian Ali Siddiq just picked up a 2026 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Variety Special for his 2025 special My Two Sons. The article notes it is the first independent comedy special to win in that category, a big milestone for a comic who has produced his work on his own.

Siddiq has released several YouTube specials that pulled in millions of views, and his Domino Effect series tells stories from his life growing up in Houston’s Third Ward. He is also helping other comedians release specials and is now touring the U.S., with plans for a European tour later this year.

🎉 Downtown Conroe is getting ready for a St Patrick’s Day tradition. The 5 O’Clock Phlock Parrot Head Club will host the 28th annual celebration on March 17 at The Corner Pub. The event began in 1998 to honor Irish and Scottish heritage and the friends who started it.

Today the gathering is still about good company and simple fun. Expect music from the club’s band, food while it lasts, and the crowning of this year’s Lord and Lady of St Patrick’s Day. If you love small town traditions, this one is worth showing up for.

🛺 A Lake Conroe area business just marked a big milestone. Action Buggies celebrated 15 years with a ribbon cutting alongside the Conroe Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, surrounded by friends, family, employees, and community supporters.

The company builds and sells custom golf carts and electric vehicles from locations in Willis and Dickinson, helping customers find rides for neighborhoods, golf courses, and everyday fun. After 15 years, the team says they are still rolling forward with the same commitment to quality and community.

🥎 No. 15 Texas A&M picked up a strong 5 - 1 win over Louisiana on Sunday at Davis Diamond. The Aggies collected nine hits, and Kelsey Mathis drove the offense with four RBI, including a three-run home run.

Pitcher Sydney Lessentine threw a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Texas A&M improves to 15 & 7 and stays home to face Louisiana Tech on March 4.

🎾 No. 4 Texas A&M women’s tennis took care of business Sunday, sweeping Missouri 4 - 0 indoors in Columbia. The Aggies grabbed the doubles point fast, then kept rolling in singles behind wins from Violeta Martinez, Daria Smetannikov, and No. 5 Lucciana Perez.

With the win, Texas A&M moves to 11 - 2 and says perfect in conference play at 3 - 0. Next up, the Aggies come home to host Mississippi State on Thursday at 5 p.m.
