If you have been thinking about fixing up your home or yard, this event might be perfect for you. The Spring Montgomery County Home and Outdoor Living Show is back March 7 and 8 at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center in Conroe, and admission and parking are both free.

You can meet local home experts in person, compare ideas, shop for plants and home items, and get advice from well-known radio and gardening pros. Families can also stop by the Children’s Entrepreneur Market on Saturday while they explore fresh ideas for spring projects.

More pipeline projects are moving through Montgomery County, adding to the huge network that already runs across Texas. Most of these lines are buried and carry oil, natural gas, and fuel products, and local leaders say they are keeping a close eye on new developments.

Several large projects are underway or in the works, including the Blackfin, Mustang Express, Bahia, and Trident pipelines. State regulators handle safety and oversight, and officials say no compressor stations are currently planned in the county.

The year kicked off with a bit of good news for the local housing market. Home sales in the Conroe and Montgomery area were up 4.9 percent compared to last January, with more homes sold in five of the eight ZIP codes, according to Sawyer Realty Group.

Many buyers were looking in the $250,000 to $499,999 range, and prices went up in several areas, including a big jump in ZIP code 77302. Homes are also taking longer to sell in many neighborhoods, which may give buyers more time to look around and make a choice.

My name is Macie Churchill, and I’m a licensed insurance agent specializing in personal lines and commercial coverage.

What does your business offer, and what kind of customers do you serve?

I help individuals, families, and small business owners with insurance for auto, home, renters, landlord, boat, and the list goes on. A lot of the people I work with are first-time homebuyers, young families, and self-employed clients who just want someone to actually explain their coverage instead of rushing them through it.

How long have you been operating in the community?

Born and raised here! I’ve been serving clients in the area for 1 year, and I’m proud to work with families right here in our local community.

What makes your business special?

I focus on education and transparency. Insurance can feel confusing and frustrating, especially when you need to file a claim. I make sure my clients understand what they have before they ever need to use it. I also stay accessible; I want my clients to feel comfortable calling or texting me with questions.

What do you wish more people knew about this business?

I wish more people knew that the cheapest policy isn’t always the best protection. Small coverage gaps can turn into big financial problems. My goal isn’t just to save people money, it’s to protect them properly.

There is a new spot in Montgomery to grab coffee, beer, and a bite to eat. The Grazery is now open inside the Farm Shop at Two Step Farm and is ready to welcome visitors.

The shop is run by the team behind B52 Brewing and offers a simple menu and a relaxed place to hang out. Two Step Farm also includes a dance hall, events, a community co-op, and a children’s play area, giving people even more reasons to visit.

Good news for local families. Next Level Urgent Care on FM 3083 has added five new patient care rooms to serve even more people in the community.

The clinic is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and already sees more patients than any other Next Level location in the region. This expansion means faster care for illnesses, injuries, and everyday health needs close to home.

The rescheduled 2026 Job Fair sponsored by the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber still brought a great turnout. More than 650 job seekers showed up at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center ready to connect with local employers.

Over 40 companies were there hiring, and visitors could attend seminars from Lone Star College Montgomery and explore Chamber resources like the SOAR Academy. Rave Financial also sponsored a quiet prep space to help job seekers feel ready before meeting employers.

Fans at Blue Bell Park had a fun night as No. 24 Texas A&M beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi 8 to 3. The Aggies powered the win with four home runs and strong pitching.

Three freshmen hit the first home runs of their college careers, and the pitching staff did not allow a single walk. Texas A&M is now 4 and 0 and will face Penn on Feb. 20.

Texas A&M women’s golf had a great showing in Florida this week. Vanessa Borovilos won the individual title at the Moon Golf Invitational and helped the No. 6 Aggies finish second as a team.

She shot 7 under for the tournament and was the only player to stay under par in all three rounds. The team now looks ahead to its next tournament in California on March 9 and 10.
