FAREWELL TO MAIN STREET MARKET CONROE

FAREWELL TO CONROE’S MAIN STREET MARKET

After nearly five years in downtown Conroe, Main Street Market will hold its final day tomorrow, February 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 301 N. Thompson St. For years, locals gathered here each Saturday to shop from farmers, bakers, artists, and makers. More than 100 small businesses got their start at this weekly market.

Organizers are inviting everyone to come say goodbye in person. Buy something nice and thank the vendors who helped make this market feel like a community. This weekend is the last chance to visit the market that became a Saturday tradition for so many.

CONROE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HOLD ENTRY-LEVEL EXAMINATION

The Conroe Fire Department is inviting people to take the entry level firefighter civil service exam on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The city plans to hire eight new firefighters through a competitive hiring process for those ready to serve their community.

Firefighters answer fires, medical calls, rescues, and other emergencies. Candidates who pass the exam will move through several hiring steps. If this path has been on your heart, now is the time to review the details and apply.

THE WOODLANDS HAS DEMAND FOR MORE HOTELS

A new study says The Woodlands needs at least two more upscale, full-service hotels to keep up with demand for meetings and events. While the area has strong travel and event activity, planners often want hotels within walking distance of venues.

From 2021 to 2030, The Woodlands lost 651 business leads worth $174 million. Leaders say new hotels could bring in millions in tax revenue and help the community stay competitive as nearby areas expand their hotel and convention spaces.

CONROE POLICE MAKE ROADS SAFER FROM DISTRACTED DRIVERS

The Conroe Police Department just finished a two-week campaign focused on distracted driving. During that time, officers handed out 204 tickets, gave 245 warnings, and made three arrests, with many stops tied to drivers using their phones.

Police say distracted driving plays a role in nearly one in five crashes on Texas roads. Their message is simple and heartfelt. Put the phone down and focus on the road. It can wait.

TEXAS A&M TO ASSIST WITH RECOVERY OF WW2 BOMBER

Texas A&M researchers are helping recover a rare World War II Navy torpedo bomber that has rested underwater near Jaluit Atoll for more than 80 years. The aircraft will be cleaned, preserved, and eventually displayed at the future National Museum of the United States Navy.

None of these planes exist in museums today. This effort honors the Navy aviators connected to the aircraft and helps share an important chapter of early naval aviation with future generations.

LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

PURE VISIONS STUDIOS

LESLIE MAYRA SALGADO OF PURE VISIONS STUDIOS

What’s your name and role here at the business?

My name is Leslie Mayra Salgado, and I’m a co-owner and lead photographer at Optical Media LLC, doing business as Pure Visions Studios. My partner and I run the business together, and I handle photography, creative direction, and client experience.

What does your business offer, and what kind of customers do you serve?

We offer professional photography services for couples, birthdays, elopements, maternity sessions. We serve individuals, couples, and families in the Conroe area who want natural, meaningful photos that feel authentic and personal.

How long have you been operating in the community?

I’ve been doing photography for nearly four years, and our photography studio will be celebrating its one-year anniversary on June 5. During that time, we’ve been grateful to work with many local clients and families in the Conroe community.

What makes your business special?

What sets us apart is the experience we create. We focus on making clients feel comfortable, confident, and welcomed from the moment they walk in. Every session is personalized, and we take the time to connect with our clients, so their photos reflect real moments and genuine emotion.

What do you wish more people knew about this business?

I wish more people knew that photography doesn’t have to be reserved only for major life events. Celebrating love, family, and everyday moments is just as meaningful, and those memories deserve to be captured too.

Where can people find you (location, hours, website, or social media) if they want to stop by or learn more?

You can find us on Facebook and Instagram at @itsmayraphoto, where we share our latest work, studio sessions, and booking information.
