CONROE HALTS PETROCHEMICAL PLANT OPERATIONS AFTER EXPANSION WITHOUT PERMITS
The city of Conroe has halted operations at a petrochemical blending plant in the Conroe Park North Industrial Park after officials determined the facility expanded without proper permitting. City council approved a contract not to exceed $70,000 with Houston-based Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. to review documents submitted by Oleon, the Belgium-based company that acquired the site in 2023.
City officials said the review is needed to better understand Oleon’s operations, the chemicals produced, and any potential hazards. Oleon specializes in converting natural fats and oils into products such as fatty acids, glycerin, esters, and biodiesel.
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND COMING TO THE WOODLANDS
The Dave Matthews Band will open its spring and summer U.S. tour in Texas, starting with a May 8 performance at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. The show marks the first stop of the band’s U.S. tour, which runs through Sept. 6 and includes additional Texas dates in Dallas on May 9 and Austin on May 11.
Fan club ticket sales began earlier this week, with general ticket sales opening at 10 a.m. on Feb. 20. The band has a long history at the Pavilion, regularly drawing crowds of 16,000 or more. Since forming in 1991, the group has sold more than 25 million tickets worldwide and ranks among the most popular touring artists of the millennium.
THE CONROE CRAVING
V Bistro - Vietnamese Noodles & Grill, 4489 W Davis St, Conroe, TX

Appetizer Sampler and Chicken Pho
I had a late lunch at V Bistro on W Davis and tried the Appetizer Sampler along with the Chicken Pho.
The appetizer sampler came with two Crab Rangoon, a spring roll, a shrimp paste lollipop, and an egg roll. The Crab Rangoon and spring roll were excellent and easily the standouts. The shrimp paste lollipop was fine but not memorable. The egg roll was cooked well, but the flavor was pretty bland.
The Chicken Pho was the highlight. The broth was rich and lively, giving the soup real depth. There was a generous amount of chicken, with a mix of large chunks and thinner slices. The larger pieces were soft and delicious, while the thinner slices were tougher and a bit chewy. Overall Score: 7.7/10. I will be back for more food.
