CONROE CONSIDERS $4 MONTHLY FEE FOR STORMWATER REPAIRS
⛈️ Conroe leaders are looking at a new $4 monthly fee to help fix drainage and stormwater problems across the city. A recent study says the city needs more than $11.9 million in improvements to aging infrastructure, erosion, flooding, and water quality issues.
If approved, the fee would apply to homes and businesses and could generate nearly $5 million a year. City leaders say the funding could help address long-standing drainage problems. The Conroe City Council is expected to consider adopting the fee in late April.
SPRING BREAK AT MARGARITAVILLE LAKE RESORT LAKE CONROE

WILL HOUSTON GAS HIT $3 SOON? FIND OUT MORE.
⛽ Texas drivers are seeing gas prices climb fast, and it may not be over yet. AAA says the statewide average for regular hit $2.817 on March 4, up from $2.736 the day before. In Houston, regular averaged $2.717, up about 9 cents overnight.
GasBuddy analyst Matt McClain says the market is reacting quickly to crude oil swings tied to rising political tensions in the Middle East and worries about key shipping lanes. GasBuddy now estimates a total jump of 20 to 55 cents per gallon, which could push Texas averages past $3 in the coming days or weeks.
HARRIS COUNTY LANDLORDS AVOIDED $119M IN TAXES LAST YEAR
💵 Harris County apartment owners avoided about $119 million in property taxes in 2025 through special tax break deals, according to an analysis by Rice University’s Baker Institute. Add 2020 through 2024, and the total reaches $345 million. In return, landlords promised some “affordable” units, but most were not required to lower rents from normal levels.
The lost taxes hit schools and local services. The report says more than $25 million would have gone to HISD, and developers also avoided payments to Harris County, the City of Houston, and other districts. Analysts warn many deals can last 99 years, and the Baker Institute estimates the savings could reach $1.4 billion in Harris County within a decade.

NEW CRAWFISH SPOT COMING TO CONROE IN MID-MARCH
🦞 Crawfish lovers in Montgomery County have something new to look forward to. Texas Crawfish Co. plans to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Conroe by mid-March, bringing boiled seafood favorites to the growing community.
The locally owned company is run by Colton and Marina Goff. It started in 2019 as Big Cab’s Crawfish with a food truck in Spring and rebranded to Texas Crawfish Co. in 2024. The new spot will serve boiled crawfish, shrimp, snow crab legs, corn, potatoes, sausage and mushrooms. The restaurant will be located at 17506 FM 1314 in Conroe.

📖 Looking for a little midweek inspiration? Montgomery County author Allison Boyd will host a book signing today (Wednesday evening) at the Conroe Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce.

TEXANS TRADE FOR DAVID MONTGOMERY TO BOOST THE RUN GAME
🏈 The Houston Texans just made a big move for their backfield. Houston is acquiring running back David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions in exchange for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, a 2026 fourth-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
Montgomery is expected to step in as Houston’s top back for 2026 after the Texans ranked 22nd in rushing yards per game last season. If you’ve been waiting for a stronger run game, this is a clear sign the Texans are trying to fix it now.
TEXAS A&M TOPS KENTUCKY AS BENCH POWERS BIG WIN
🏀 Texas A&M lit up the scoreboard Tuesday night, knocking off Kentucky 96 - 85 at Reed Arena. The Aggies caught fire from long range, hitting 13 three pointers and pulling away with a big second half.
Rylan Griffen led the way with 21 points off the bench, while Rubén Dominguez added 17 and Rashaun Agee scored 14. Texas A&M had five players reach double digits and got 57 points from its bench. The Aggies now head to Baton Rouge to face LSU on Saturday to close the regular season.
