⭐ Attention: Free Advertising for Local Businesses!

You may have noticed that we have been testing advertising. I’ve been using my bookkeeping business as the guinea pig and visits to its website have significantly increased.

We will be selecting a few local small business advertisers to receive a considerable amount of free advertising in multiple issues of one to four of our local newsletters (Conroe, Houston, Pearland, Sugar Land).

The free advertising will be a combination of story-style ads with a photo and internet links, and digital banner-type ads with a couple supporting sentences about your business and internet links. If you have a local small business, let’s have a conversation. You can email us at [email protected].

We are specifically looking for the following types of local small businesses:

  • Personal Injury Attorney

  • Insurance Agent / Agency

  • Junk Removal

  • HVAC

  • Landscaping

  • Financial Advisory or Wealth Management

  • Real Estate Agency

  • Dental Group

  • Primary Care Group

If you are a local business owner and you are interested, email us today!

CONROE AREA NEWS

Conroe Center Breaks Ground

πŸ—οΈ A new $5 million community center is now under construction in Conroe. Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker said the center will give residents and nonprofit groups a more affordable place to gather.

The 15,000-square-foot facility is planned for 9291 Airport Road and is partly funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Walker said it will offer space for educational classes, youth and senior programs, community events, and an on-site food pantry. It is expected to be finished in about a year.

I saw the Montgomery County Commissioner in Precinct 1 post about this. See more on on their Facebook page!

Conroe Police Hiring Gets More Flexible

πŸš“ Conroe City Council’s police hiring change gives the Conroe Police Department more room to bring in experienced officers. The council approved an amendment to the 2026 meet-and-confer agreement with the Conroe Police Officers Association, removing the set cap on lateral hires.

Police Chief Jon Buckholtz said the city had been limited to 14 lateral hires, with seven already used. He said experienced officers can help fill openings faster while still allowing Conroe to train new officers through its academy.

AROUND THE METRO

Free Rides for World Cup Fans

⚽ A Houston law firm is offering 500 free Lyft rides to help World Cup fans get home safely during the holiday weekend. JD Silva & Associates said eligible riders can use promo code FIFASILVA after leaving Houston Stadium or the official FIFA Fan Fest.

The offer runs through July 6 and is first-come, first-served while the promotional funds last. Founder Johnathan Silva said the goal is to help fans enjoy the tournament without making risky choices on the road.

Church Cancels Parole Event

βš–οΈ A planned welcome-home event for a Houston-area pastor convicted in an online child sex sting was canceled after church leaders learned more about his criminal history. Records show Jeremiah Busby was granted parole and was expected to be released Tuesday.

The event had been planned for July 4 at Set Free Church on Uvalde Road. Church leaders told ABC13 they were not aware of Busby’s history when the rental was booked, then canceled the rental and refunded the payment after safety concerns were raised.
