⭐ Attention: Small Business Advertisers

You may have noticed that we have been testing advertising. I’ve been using my bookkeeping business as the guinea pig and visits to its website have significantly increased.

We will be selecting a few local small business advertisers to receive a considerable amount of free advertising in multiple issues of one to four of our local newsletters (Houston, Conroe, Pearland, Sugar Land).

The free advertising will be a combination of story-style ads with a photo and internet links, and digital banner-type ads with a couple supporting sentences about your business and internet links. If you have a local small business, let’s have a conversation. You can email us at [email protected].

We are specifically looking for the following types of local small businesses:

  • Personal Injury Attorney

  • Insurance Agent / Agency

  • Junk Removal

  • HVAC

  • Landscaping

  • Financial Advisory or Wealth Management

  • Real Estate Agency

CONROE AREA NEWS

Conroe Airport Makes History

✈️ A massive C-17 landing in Conroe became the largest aircraft ever to touch down at Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport, according to airport director James Brown. The Boeing C-17A Globemaster III came from Alaska on Monday carrying two AH-64D Apache helicopters.

The Army is phasing out older Apache models and using the Conroe airport site to dismantle and catalog parts. Brown said the plane will return on eight more missions, bringing 16 helicopters total to Conroe over the next few weeks.

County Mobility Plan Asks For Input

πŸš— Montgomery County residents can weigh in on the countywide Mobility Plan during six pop-up meetings planned for June 27. Montgomery County and the Houston-Galveston Area Council are working on the transportation plan, which is expected to take about 18 months to complete.

Morning meetings will be held in Conroe, The Woodlands, and New Caney. Afternoon meetings are planned in Montgomery, The Woodlands, and New Caney. Residents can also give feedback through online surveys for their precinct.

AROUND THE METRO

Houston Shows Its World Cup Art

🎨 Houston artist Stephanie Leal created the city’s official FIFA World Cup host city poster, called Dare to Dream. The design shows an astronaut with a soccer ball and cowboy hat, tying together Houston’s space roots and soccer celebration.

The artwork is showing up on shirts, keychains, posters, and souvenirs around the city as fans arrive for World Cup events. Leal told ABC13 she grew up watching the World Cup and now gets to combine her love of art and futbol on a huge stage.

Heat Sticks Around This Week

β˜€οΈ Houston’s forecast is settling into a hot, humid pattern through the end of June. KPRC meteorologists say high pressure will keep rain chances low, with afternoon temperatures mostly in the low-to-mid 90s.

The bigger issue is the feel-like heat. Humidity could push heat index values into the 104 to 107 range on many afternoons. The forecast calls for partly cloudy nights, warm mornings, and very little rain through the weekend. Residents are urged to take breaks, drink water, and never leave people or pets in parked cars.

Houston Scores Convention Win

πŸ™οΈ Houston was ranked fifth nationally among U.S. cities for attending conferences and conventions in a new U.S. News & World Report list. Houston was the highest-ranked Texas city, with San Antonio also landing in the top ten.

The report pointed to Houston’s airports, hotel costs, entertainment, and winter weather as strengths. City leaders said the ranking supports Houston’s business and tourism push. The city has also secured funding for a major George R. Brown Convention Center expansion, including a new building and pedestrian plaza expected to open in 2028.
